Provides a simple news & discussion section for a website. This is useful for projects that are driven by happening events, and you can tune the amount of news shown on your main page from a few stories to dozens of stories.
Pages:
- _template
- _start - "Submit news" - landing page for users creating a new story
- _listall - "All news" - summary of all news stories
Real life example
See http://win.openamq.org and http://packages.wikidot.com.
How to use
- Install the package pages to your site using the "news:" category.
- In your site manager, set permissions correctly for the news: category and for forum per-page comments. In most sites, only mods and admins can create new news pages, while anyone can comment on them.
- News items are shown on the front page if they are tagged with _front.
- Put the summary section on your front page, and set the limit to suit your needs (up to 30 or so, for sites where the news is central):
++ News
[[module ListPages category="news" tags="_front" limit="10"]]
* **%%linked_title%%** (%%content{1}%%) %%content{2}%% (+%%rating%% "%%comments%%")
[[/module]]
>> [[[news:_start|Submit news]]] | [[[news:_listall|Older stories]]]

First :I found this page by accident because I wanted to start a site called http://modules.wikidot.com and it was taken. Since I was looking for good info on modules (especially ListPages) I thought maybe it is a good idea to bundle all the info of one module in one place. And so I stumbled on this site, I never heard of.
Second :interesting things here.
Third: I am looking for something that works a bit like this package. I find that this package looks very much like the forum-modules (RecentPosts …) But I feel that there is something important missing.
So: If I use this package or the RecentPost-module on my page I would like to be able (since I have comments on my pages) to jump from the nice list that this package makes to the PAGE on which the comment is posted instead of the FORUMPAGE where the comment is kept. It should be easy because on top of the FORUMPAGE there is a link to the PAGE I really want to jump to.
I am hoping on a comment to this post, not necessarily a solution.

This package uses ListPages, which is pretty flexible but maybe needs tweaking to do what you want. You need to become a pro member, then suggest this on the pro.wikidot.site. Or, suggest it on the community site.
It would be cool to make a modules.wikidot.com site, if you want that, I'll make you admin of the wiki and you can fill it in. Right now it just redirects here, as you saw.
Feel free also to promote packages.wikidot.com on the community site, if you like it.

I stumbled across this: http://module.wikidot.com/
However, in supplying files, the category is actually "issue:"
